Young Academics Grow at Ronaki Hawler Schools

Ronaki Hawler Schools students are active participants in International Scientific Olympiads. Olympiads provide incredible learning and life experience opportunities for our students through different experimental projects, exposure to new cultures and the time to meet talented students from various educational institutions.

Scientific and technological developments are increasing faster than ever in today’s world, and Ronaki Hawler Schools contribute to these developments through their active participation in projects and science Olympiads. Int’l Olympiads are regarded as an essential part of the educational provisions for gifted and talented students.

International Kangaroo Math Olympiad

Kangourou sans Frontières (KSF) is an independent association, whose purpose is to organize the annual Kangaroo contest to promote mathematics among young people around the world.

Each year over six million school pupils aged 5 to 18 from more than 50 countries around the globe take part at various levels. Awards are given to the top-scoring students per grade at the national level. Questions require imagination, basic computational skills, logical thinking, and other problem-solving strategies.

Math & Robot Challenge

Pan-Asia international school organizes this competition every year in Thailand. “International Math Challenge” aims to encourage students to study and excel in math and critical thinking.

American Math Contest

More than 300,000 students participate in the MAA American Mathematics Competitions each year, which leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem solvers.

The program begins at the middle school level of competition, AMC 8 and extends through high school with the AMC 10 and 12.

International Math Olympiad

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with seven countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents.

International Biology Olympiad

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is a competition for secondary school students. It aims students at tackling biological problems and dealing with biological experiments.

In bringing together gifted students, the IBO tries to challenge and stimulate these students to expand their talents and to promote their career as a scientist, so biology talents do not get lost.

International Chemistry Olympiad

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level. Nations around the world send a team of four students tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical and five-hour written theoretical examination.

It aims to stimulate the activities of students interested in chemistry by way of independent and creative solving of chemical problems.

International Junior Science Olympiad

The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is an annual individual and team competition in the Natural Sciences for students under sixteen. IJSO recognizes the significance of the Natural Sciences in the general education of young people and all aspects of their lives.

Currently, around 50 member countries participate every year. The academic competitions of the IJSO include challenging tests in topics of science, both as theory questions and practical tasks.

Owlypia

Owlypia, with the slogan ‘Intellectuals’ Struggle’, for the students aged between 11-14 (Owlets) and 15-18 (Owlys), which is an international platform that students think, write, discuss and have fun. Owlypia aims to inspire intellectual curiosity and develop research skills, even academic confidence in young minds, with the spirit of “Challenging students intellectually!”

DISTCO Contest

The DISTCO (Digital Storytelling Contest) is a powerful research-oriented educational project. This project contributes to the research of the educational uses of digital storytelling in K-12 and beyond. This contest, in which each student (in English) has a place at different levels, from kindergarten to high school senior students, gives the right to apply for DISTCO in the international arena after school qualifiers, provincial qualifications, and national qualifiers. The contest is online at www.distco.org.

The competition enables the participants to open the way to immerse themselves in the world of storytelling, script production, video production, and multimedia. The contest offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in technology, multimedia, research, presentation, writing, and innovative subjects.
