Uniform and Dress Code

It is the policy of RONAKI HAWLER Schools that all children wear school uniform when attending school or when participating in a school-organized event outside scheduled school hours.

The policy for school uniform is based on the belief that a uniform:

  • sets an appropriate tone
  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • supports positive behavior and discipline
  • encourages identity with, and support for, the school ethos
  • ensures pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome
  • engenders a sense of community and belonging to the school
  • helps pupils to feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • nurtures cohesion and promotes good relations between different groups of pupils
  • supports effective teaching and learning
  • is designed with health and safety in mind
  • helps identify pupils, particularly when on visits outside school

Uniform

Our school uniform consists of:

Girls

  • jile (the color varies according to type of the school)
  • Short/Long Sleeve t-shirt
  • Uniform top must have the school logo on it on the upper left chest.
  • Sweatshirts (the color varies according to type of the school)
  • Track suit

Footwear

  • Socks: must be worn at all times and need to be black, white, navy, tan. No multicolored socks are to be worn at any time.
  • Sandals and Slippers are NOT permitted.

Boys

  • Chino Pants (the color varies according to type of the school)
  • Jeans or pants with a different color are NOT permitted.
  • Short/Long Sleeve t-shirt (the color varies according to type of the school)
  • Uniform top must have the school logo on it on the upper left chest.

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds, pupils are permitted to wear only a watch.  The wearing of other items of jewellery is not permitted.

Hair

For girls; hair should be neat and tidy and worn with no extremes of style or color.  Long hair should be tied back, particularly for PE.

For boys; No hair gel/ spray/ wax/ mousse are permitted and should be short.

Make up

No make-up or nail polish should be worn.

The role of parents

We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork.

Parents will:

  • ensure that their child/children adhere to the school’s uniform policy
  • ensure that their child/children come to school in uniform every day unless there are special circumstances such as non-uniform days or festivals
  • ensure that their child’s/children’s uniform is clean, ironed and in good repair

The role of the school

Staff in school will:

  • ensure that pupils comply with the school uniform policy
  • enforce the school uniform policy throughout the school community as part of their duty to maintain day to day discipline in the school

Administration will

  • support school staff in implementing the school uniform policy fairly and with sensitivity
  • ensure that the school uniform policy meets all regulations concerning equal opportunities
  • Consider respectfully any representations made by parents regarding the wearing of school uniform on Cultural festival and special events.

Equality

All children have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability or ability.  RONAKI HAWLER SCHOOLS are committed to creating a positive climate that will enable everyone to work free from racial intimidation and harassment and to achieve their full potential.
